The Santa Sofia Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC is a lovely fresh, crisp and subtle rosé with flavours of strawberries, pink grapefruit and quince. Medium dry with a touch of minerality, a lovely match with canapes, shellfish, lean fish, cured meats and soft cheeses.
Santa Sofia is located just north of Verona on the gentle slopes of the verdant Valpolicella Classico region and housed in the beautiful Villa Santa Sofia that was built back in 1560. The Begnoni family, who bought the villa along with its ancient cellars and vineyards in 1964, have worked to maintain the estate’s tradition of making approachable and elegant wines that represent the ancient Valpolicella terroir. Under their stewardship, Santa Sofia has gained a reputation which has seen it grow from a small, high-quality estate to one of the most significant realities in the Veronese winemaking world—a lovely example of which is the Santa Sofia Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC.
