The 2023 Zensa Rosso Puglia from Orion Wines is produced using exclusively organic grapes selected from some of the best vineyards in the region of Puglia, Southern Italy. A complex bouquet reminiscent of blueberries, redcurrants, and cinnamon is joined by pleasant spiciness from the oak ageing. On the palate, it is full-bodied, lush yet supple, and well balanced, with a long and lingering finish. Perfect with roast red meats and mature cheeses.
In Italian, “Zensa” (pronounced “senza”) means “without” or “to do without,” the perfect name for a range of wines produced free of chemicals or pesticides, only what Mother Nature provides. The 2023 Zensa Rosso Puglia brings together Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, all harvested manually: the Primitivo in late August, the Negroamaro in mid-September, then the Cabernet Sauvignon in late September. After gentle vinification, 30% of the wine is aged for eight months in second-passage American and French oak barriques.
