The Matilde Vicenzi Strawberry Ladyfingers, designed to mark Vicenzi’s 120th anniversary, preserve the hallmark features of Italy’s most popular ladyfingers—that same light crispiness and amazing consistency that are key to a successful tiramisù—while adding strawberry juice for a delicate pink hue and a new fruity flavour. A true statement of Vicenzi’s core values—traditional pastry craftsmanship and a strong spirit of innovation—these beautiful ladyfingers open the way for whole new directions not just for tiramisù but a whole panoply of exquisite desserts.
The Matilde Vicenzi story began in 1905 with a small but exquisite line of pastries, ladyfingers, amaretti and sfogliatine sold from Matilde’s artisanal bakery in San Giovanni Lupatoto, Verona. Her grandson Giuseppe was fascinated by both the art of pastry he learned at his grandmother’s knee and the possibilities of technology, starting with the longed-for Melzi automated biscuit maker that he received on his 14th birthday. Travelling to the United Kingdom and later Japan in search of new ideas and new machinery, he expanded the Vicenzi line first with the instantly famous Vicenzovo Ladyfingers and then Millefoglie d’Italia puff pastry.
The Vicenzovo Ladyfingers are characterized by quality ingredients—the best flour and sugar along with a solid 26% of fresh eggs—made to artisanal recipes that reflects the family’s deep love of food, tradition, and also innovation. Nowhere is that commitment to innovation clearer than in the delicate and delicious Matilde Vicenzi Strawberry Ladyfingers —a one-of-a-kind product designed to reinterpret a great classic of Italian pastry-making and inspire new opportunities for creativity and enjoyment of fine food.
