The La Fabbrica Black Panforte—Panforte Siena PGI Nero, or ‘Panpepato’— is, in fact, one of the oldest traditional Sienese desserts, dating back to the Middle Ages. Dense and dark, it has a stronger flavour than the usual panforte thanks to the addition of a good handful of nutmeg, cloves and allspice. Each fruitcake is hand-wrapped according to the Sienese confectionery tradition.
Located a few kilometres from Siena, La Fabbrica Del Panforte is a small company specializing in artisanal baked goods with deep roots in the land and culture. Drawing on the original recipes of the Sienese confectionery tradition that have been passed down from master bakers, La Fabbrica views its products as a representation of the character of the people of Siena: simple, straightforward, original and natural. The dense, rich La Fabbrica Black Panforte is the epitome of that character.
