The Caves Santa Marta Branco is a very pleasant medium-dry white wine with a light perfume and a soft mouthfeel. The juicy flavours of tropical fruit, melon, pear and lemon are balanced by the mouthwatering acidity, making this a great food wine while also perfect enjoyed on its own.
Caves Santa Marta is a cooperative formed back in 1959 by winegrowers in Santa Marta de Penaguião, right in the heart of the historic Douro wine region in northern Portugal. These days, the cooperative produces around six million litres of wine per annum and exports around the world. Its commitment to quality is reflected in its beautiful, highly accessible port wines, varying from ruby to vintage, and a fascinating selection of wines that showcase Portugal’s many unique varietals. The Caves Santa Marta Branco, for example, blends Fernão Pires, which, as one of Portugal’s best white grapes, delivers high-intensity floral aromas and medium body, with Malvasia Fina (known for producing aromatic wines with floral, ripe stone fruit, and citrus notes) and Viosinho, an ancient local grape that produces full-bodied but fresh, fragrant, well-balanced wines.
