The Dolce Forno Lemon Torte is a delicious soft lemon tart with a creamy lemon curd centre on a shortcrust pastry base, topped with a layer of plum cake and icing sugar. Keep in the freezer until the day before, thaw for 8-10 hours in the fridge, and it’s ready to plate.
Il Dolce Forno—“the sweet oven”—was born back in the 1950s, when Jole and Luigi Gallina decided to set up a small bakery and shop in the heart of Treviso, Italy to prepare fresh and frozen pastries following traditional Veneto recipes. Their children followed in their footsteps, developing a wonderful range of frozen cakes, single-serve cakes, cannoli, strudel, single-serve tarts and other baked goods to bring that traditional Italian flavour to markets around the world. Even today, though, they retain that human touch by having each cake and tartlet hand-decorated so that each and every product remains unique—an attention to detail which stands out in the quality Dolce Forno Lemon Torte.
