Grana is made entirely from skimmed milk and only needs to age 9 months, resulting in milder and softer cheese than ‘older brother’ Parmigiano Reggiano. It can also be made all year round. Due to the cheaper price afforded by the simpler production rules, Grana tends to be bought more often than Reggiano.
