The 6-month Akkem Manchego has an intense flavour and crumbly texture that make it an ideal table cheese to serve with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, crusty bread and a robust red wine or dry sherry. The Denomination de Origen seal guarantees the quality of this tangy, slightly grainy cheese. Cured in the ancient cattle-raising region of La Mancha from Manchego sheep milk, Manchego was apparently the favourite of the famous windmill-tilting character Don Quixote, who clearly had great taste in cheese. The 6-month Akkem Manchego is not quite as full-flavoured as its older brother, making it an easy introduction to one of Spain’s great traditional cheeses.
