The Amaretti Virginia Amarettini are crisp and crunchy with a bittersweet almond flavour and a wonderful aroma. In Italy, these biscuits are traditionally enjoyed as a sweet treat during the day or served with coffee and sweet wine after dinner. You can also crush them to sprinkle over ice cream or to make a delicious base for cheesecakes flavoured with fruit, chocolate or Italian liqueurs. The lovely collectible tin makes these biscuits a great Christmas gift.
Amaretti Virginia was founded back in 1860 in beautiful Sassello, not far from Genoa. It first became famous for its fragrant Amaretti with their soft almond texture, with the bakery so well-known that it became a meeting place for locals and visitors alike and the square that it overlooked was referred to in postcards of the time as ‘Piazza degli Amaretti Virginia.’ The company swept award after award at international expos from 1892 onward, and attempts at imitation became so numerous that Amaretti Virginia’s founder had the brand placed under the legal protection of the Kingdom of Italy in 1897. The Amaretti Virginia Amarettini show that the company has lost none of its traditional expertise.
