The Amaretti Virginia Soft Amaretti are filled with hazelnut cream and individually wrapped for real freshness—perfect at the side of a coffee cup. And for all the romantics out there, the souvenir tin adorned with Venetian icons will make a lovely gift.
Amaretti Virginia was founded back in 1860 in beautiful Sassello, not far from Genoa. It first became famous for its fragrant Amaretti with their soft almond texture, with the bakery so well-known that it became a meeting place for locals and visitors alike and the square that it overlooked was referred to in postcards of the time as ‘Piazza degli Amaretti Virginia.’ The company swept award after award at international expos from 1892 onward, and attempts at imitation became so numerous that Amaretti Virginia’s founder had the brand placed under the legal protection of the Kingdom of Italy in 1897.
